The Follower of the Red Priest

Last appointment will be Friday 1st July (21.00) at Church of San Francesco with"Il seguace del Prete Rosso", concerts for violin and orchestra by Andrea Zani and Antonio Vivaldi, performed by the Compagnia de Violini, Alessandro Ciccolini Director and Violin Soloist. In 1729, in Casalmaggiore, his hometown, Andrea Zani published his op. 2: Six chamber symphonies and as many church concerts for four instruments”, dedicated to Duke Antonio Farnese, then regent of Parma and Piacenza, a great lover of art. The collection is linked to a great event that took place in Parma the previous year: the marriage celebrated on 5 February 1728 between the Farnese and Princess Enrichetta d'Este, daughter of Rinaldo, Duke of Modena. The opera was performed on the occasion of the weddingThe Mede, by the Neapolitan composer Leonardo Vinci, whose realization was attended by two famous singers: Carlo Farinelli and Antonio Maria Bernacchi (virtuoso of the duke).

The program will explore the evident influence of an innovative composer such as Vivaldi on the concert language of Andrea Zani, one of the most original followers of the Venetian genius. Through the form of the Violin Concerto, the incredible beauties of a timeless music will resound.
